Xena convinces the warlord, Xerxes, to throw her in his dungeon to rat out the Black Wolf, the leader of a group of rebels, in an effort to rescue an old friend. Salmoneus can't keep his hands off Gabrielle's tomatoes. And, after much effort, Gabrielle finally gets thrown in the dungeon to be re-united with Xena (as per her charmingly spastic nature). The pack is freed and all is well with the world (for now).
Xena: "You like shoving women around so much ... try me."
Xena: "Causes are only lost when people give up."
Xena: "Oh, don't bother the dears, they're sleeping."
Xena: "It's the Black Wolf you want. Cut off the head of the serpent, and the body withers and dies."
Xerxes: "Who are you? What is your interest in all this?"
Xena: "My name is Xena. I'm a problem solver."
> Koulos: "Why should we believe you could succeed?"
Xena: "Ask Myzentius and Traechus about me."
Koulos: "Myzentius is dead."
Xena: "Yes, he is."
Koulos: "You're making this harder than it needs to be."
Xena: "Well, you want it to be believable, don't you? Don't worry, you'll make a comeback ... in the end."
Prisoner: "Looking for the man of your dreams, darlin'?"
Xena: "Yeah ... you're not him."
Flora: "It's been a long time."
Xena: "You've grown up."
Flora: "You've grown legendary."
Flora: "Would you believe, Xena taught me to swing a sword ... and embroider a linen for my wedding chest."
Diomedes: "You embroider?"
Xena: "I have many skills."
Salmoneus: "Hello, little friend, looking for some Black Wolf merchandise? Sh, sh, not too loud, not just because of Xerxes' guards, but because these are incredible bargains."
Gabrielle: "I don't have time for this."
Salmoneus: "Time? Who doesn't have time for a great deal? Trust Salmoneus, he only has the interests of the customer at heart. Ask anybody ... later. Take a look at this, huh? This nice pouch ... you can put it on your back ... you can put a vegetable in there ... a scroll. Take a look, it's the Black Wolf seal. I call it my Black Wolf pack ... wolf pack ... get it? You like that?"
Gabrielle: "That's good, yeah, that's nice ... I need my tomato!"
Salmoneus: "Wait a minute. Those boots ... that leather ... those legs ... Xena!"
Diomedes: "This idea that Xena, Warrior Princess, could be captured and thrown in prison sure seems like a set-up to me."
Prisoner: "What do you want my belt for?"
Salmoneus: "To be perfectly honest, I have no idea. I just need it, and as many as we can get."
Prisoner: "What if my drawers fall down?"
Salmoneus: "I don't think that's likely to happen. It's a perfect fit. It's like you were poured into that outfit. That belt really ruins the line of the ensemble."
Flora: "I know what I'm doing Xena. I'm not a little girl anymore."
Xena: "No, you're not."
Flora: "The times change people ..."
Xena: "... and people change the times. You remember."
Flora: "I can hardly forget. You used to say it a lot when our village was being attacked."
Xena: "I just didn't want people thinking that they had no choice."
Flora: "Even back then, you could read people. I could never figure that out. You always had a way of understanding what someone needed without asking. It's only one of the things I liked about you."
Xena: "You remember that old oak tree by the river?"
Flora: "I try to forget it. You and all the other kids would climb up into it and I would be left on the ground. And, then you would reach down your hand and say, ‘you gotta have faith, you got to,' and I'd reach up and you'd pull your hand away. I fell for that every time. I couldn't understand why someone I admired so much could treat me like that. Can you tell me why?"
Xena: "I can tell you that you were the closest thing I ever had to a sister. That was important to me."
Salmoneus: "Alright, I got fifteen belts, four ropes and three proposals. This is disgusting work, but still, for the greater glory of the Black Wolf. Oh Wolf, who would be more widely known with an agent to promote his image."
Salmoneus: "Listen, when you find out who this Black Wolf is, you gotta let me know. Not just because I'm running a guess-who-the-Black-Wolf-is pool, Diomedes is the favorite by the way, but I've got my signature line of revolutionary Black Wolf wear ready to go. I've even got a slogan, ‘Just Cry Wolf!'"
Xena: "If you've got a problem with me, you take it up with me."
Gabrielle: "Excuse me, have you seen Xena? She's tall ... beautiful ... piercing blue eyes ... swings a mean right hook ... looks like she may have swung it already."
Xena: "What in gods' names are you doing here?"
Gabrielle: "Xena, you get yourself thrown in a dungeon and you expect me to do nothing. You should know me better by now."
Xena: "I should."
Gabrielle: "I figured two things: one, you're here because you want to be, which means you have a plan to get out; and two, you're gonna need my help. You couldn't ask for it, of course, that's not you."
Salmoneus: "You! That's the little Miss Innocent that got me thrown in here in the first place."
Xena: "She's my friend."
Salmoneus: "She's your friend ... she's your friend? You have a friend? What, is she a warrior?"
Gabrielle: "Hey, hey, back off! You know, you wouldn't be in here in the first place if you'd kept your hands off my tomatoes."
Flora: "I've been thinking ... about you and me ... and how much we've changed. I've realized something."
Xena: "What's that?"
Flora: "Why you never gave me your hand to climb that tree. You told to me to have faith and I always thought you meant to have faith in you. But, it was me you were talking about, wasn't it?"
Xena: "You have to have faith in yourself, Flora, otherwise you spend the rest of your life waiting for other people to offer their hand to you."
Xena: "Flora, do you have faith?"
Xena: "Koulos, get him out. I'll give you what you want."
Koulos: "What is it I want?"
Xena: "The Black Wolf ... it's her."
Salmoneus: "What if the plan works? I'm a salesman, not a warrior. What do I know about fighting?"
Gabrielle: "See the pointy ends of those swordy-things the guards are carrying?"
Gabrielle: "Stay away from them."
